On the Road...not me...yet
It's nice to start the day with one's parents being adorable. Mum and Dum are on the road, taking perhaps their first real vacation of the century. Much as they'd like to travel more, it just never works out. Too hard working I guess. So they called from Bayona Restaurant in New Orleans (as per Colin's much appreciated recommendation) to tell me precisely the contents of their evidently amazing dinner, not to mention an array of spirits. I am truly my parents child, it's all about the gastronomic pleasures in life.
So the whole fam is on the road, 'cept me. Sister's off in a Dakota somewhere visiting family and evidently sorting flower seeds in a barn and riding atvs. Brothers teaching hiking in Montana or somewhere thereabouts. Can never keep up with him. Folks driving across the gulf coast.
Tell you what, a century ago that would have been a long way. Now, as it is, I toy with the idea of learning French or Czech next, or maybe off to India. But not till after a few more years in Japan. Maybe next golden week in China. Maybe go work in Australia, take a vacation to South Africa. Also some probably less than wise desire to see Israel.
Just like a Rolling Stone...the film festival didn't help. Then again you're mad if you think I'm going back to it today as originally planned. I'm gonna sit right here in my house and build a website for my uncle who needed it a month ago (sorry David) and study Japanese for a change. Funny, this was the day I had the most "options" on my keitai, thought about going to the beach, film festival, maybe this little live concert tonight (who knows, may do that but prolly not). So I kind of knew I wasn't going to do any of them. Rolling stones's gotta take a breather and take in the scenery in my head today.
